What is Reiki?

Reiki is a gentle energy healing practice that promotes relaxation, balance, and overall well-being. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese words Rei (universal) and Ki (life force energy).

As a Reiki practitioner, I act as a channel for this energy, using light touch or working just above the body to support your body's natural ability to restore balance. Many people experience Reiki as deeply relaxing, calming, grounding, or restorative.

One reason Reiki can feel so calming is that it may help the body shift out of a stress response (often called the "fight, flight, or freeze" state of the nervous system) and into a more relaxed, restorative state. This shift can create space for rest, healing, and a greater sense of ease.

Every person's experience is unique. Some people notice physical sensations such as warmth, tingling, or heaviness, while others simply feel more peaceful, clear-headed, or emotionally lighter after a session.

Reiki is not tied to any religion or belief system and can be received by anyone. Whether you're seeking relaxation, stress relief, emotional support, or simply a moment to reconnect with yourself, Reiki offers a gentle space to slow down and receive.

While Reiki is not a substitute for medical or mental health treatment, many people find it to be a valuable complement to their overall wellness and healing journey.

People seek Reiki for a variety of reasons, including:

  • Stress and overwhelm

  • Anxiety and nervous system dysregulation

  • Life transitions

  • Emotional processing

  • Burnout

  • Feeling disconnected from themselves

  • Personal growth and self-discovery

As a thank you for being part of the Rooted community, participants receive 50% off their initial Private Reiki session with Lexi at UnJaded.

Is the Reiki offered during Rooted the same as a private session?

Yes and no. The Reiki offered during Rooted events is the same Reiki energy that I channel during a private session. However, the experience is quite different.

During a Rooted hike, Reiki is offered briefly in a group setting as part of the overall experience. While many participants find it relaxing, grounding, and restorative, the focus of the event is shared between the hike, mindfulness practices, reflection, journaling, community connection, and Reiki.

A private Reiki session is a dedicated one-on-one experience centered entirely around you. With more time and individualized attention, there is greater opportunity to relax deeply, explore specific intentions, and receive a more personalized experience.

Many people enjoy experiencing Reiki for the first time during a Rooted event and later choose to explore a private session for a deeper experience.

What should I bring with me?

We encourage everyone to pack the following items:

  • Water

  • Comfortable walking shoes

  • Journal/notebook & Pen

  • Bug Spray

  • Blanket or mat to sit on

  • Glasses (we often hand out journal prompts for participants to read through independently)

How difficult are the nature walks?

These walks are designed to be accessible to any/all fitness levels. You can expect the terrain to be mostly flat and our pace to be leisurely. We encourage everyone to move at their own pace and will always have a facilitator at the front and back of the group. There are planned stops along our route where we settle in for 10-20 minutes, allowing for rest and recovery.

Are children welcome?

While we love the little ones, we generally discourage young children from attending Rooted Sessions due to the nature of the workshop being centered around reflection, medtiation, and reiki. Older children are welcome if you feel they are able to participate in these activities :)

What happens if there is inclement weather?

In the event that we are unable to host the Rooted session outdoors, we will inform participants of an alternate plan, which will include either a Zoom session geared towards journaling, mindfulness, and distance reiki, or a secondary location where we can meet under cover for restorative movement and reiki. Participants will also have the option to transfer their registration to a future event.
